Russ Tape - Mechanical bonding
For mechanically bonding EPDM membranes to substrate
RUSS Tape for Mechanical Fixing
In common with most single ply material, EPDM will overtime try and shrink. The base tie in mechanically fixes the membrane to the roof deck where the membrane turns UP through an angle change. e.g. Wall upstand. Any further movement is accommodated by the EPDM’s ability to elongate by over 300%
RUSS (Reinforced Universal Secure Strip) has bonding tape pre-applied along one edge, this is bonded to the underside of the EPDM using ClassicBond Rubber Primer, meaning that the EPDM membrane does not require puncturing during installation.
2" Seam Fastening Plates are included with the Russ tape. We supply sufficient seam fasteners to secure the tape to the deck at 300mm intervals i.e. 3-4 per metre
- Ideal for Additional membrane securement as needed.
- Ideal for perimeter securement and around penetrations
N.B. Seam Fasteners must be used in conjunction with the appropriate screw fixings for the substrate.

EPDM Rubber roofs have a 50 year life expectancy.
EPDM has been in commercial use since the 1960s. And many of those roofs are still around today.
Yes, EPDM Membranes require the substrate to be dry prior to installation. This is so the the adhesive & primers can effectively bond the rubber to roof deck. EPDM products will not adhere to wet or damp surfaces. Trapped moisture may vaporize and negatively affect the performance of the membranes.
Yes, ClassicBond membrane holds the British Board of Agrément certificate, No. 11/4853 (issued to Flex-R Ltd). It also holds fire ratings for each of the thicknesses available.
We recommentd a minimum tempereture of 5 degrees C for EPDM installation. This is due the the WBA adhesive being water based and lower temperetures may cause the adhesive to freeze over and fail.
